POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions dropped 13% to SAR 8.55 billion in the week ending March 13, 2021, from SAR 9.88 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
A total of 87.8 million transactions were processed in the week ending March 13.

All sectors declined, except for Restaurants & Cafes, which rose by 5%.
Education led the decliners with a 40% drop, followed by Food & Beverages and Recreation & Culture, which fell by 25% and 19%, respectively.
Consumer spending focused on Food & Beverages sector during the week, valued at nearly SAR 1.3 billion, followed by Restaurants & Cafes with SAR 1.1 billion, and Miscellaneous Goods & Services with SAR 752.3 million.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with SAR 2.68 billion, representing 31% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 1.42 billion.
