King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) announced today, March 20, delaying the launch of Shaheen Sat.
The satellite was set to be launched today on the Russian Soyuz-2 missile from a platform in Kazakhstan.
Shaheen Sat, which is KACST's 17th satellite, was locally made to provide high-resolution images of the earth from low orbits with a high-resolution telescope, along with an automatic identification system to track marine vessels.
Prince Sultan bin Salman, chairman of the Saudi Space Commission, announced yesterday that the Kingdom will launch two satellites "Shaheen Sat" and "CubeSat" to develop the sectors related to the space industry.
