A POS terminal
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions fell by 12% to SAR 10 billion in the week ending April 10, 2021, from SAR 11.4 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 96.1 million transactions were processed in the week ending April 10.

All sectors witnessed a decline in POS during the week ending April 10, led by education, which fell by 23% through sales amounting to SAR 100.3 million. It was followed by telecommunications that fell by 17%.
Consumer spending focused on food & beverages sector during the week, valued at nearly SAR 1.74 billion, followed by restaurants and cafes with sales of SAR 1.20 billion and clothes & footwear with SAR 933 million.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with nearly SAR 3.14 billion, representing 31% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with over SAR 1.7 billion.
