The point-of-sale (POS) transactions grew by 65% to SAR 40.84 billion in March 2021, from SAR 24.79 billion in the same period last year, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
A total of 395.9 million transactions were processed through 792,800 points of sale in the same month.
POS transactions represent consumers spent using their ATM cards and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Cash withdrawals declined 4% to SAR 54.66 billion in March 2021, from SAR 56.9 billion last year.
The withdrawals were processed through 17,300 ATMs and through 149.2 million transactions.
