Saudi Arabia plans to reopen to foreign tourists soon, Reuters reported, citing Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) CEO, Fahad Hamidaddin.

An announcement in this regard is expected “very soon," Hamidaddin said, while declining to provide a specific date.

He indicated that the Kingdom is still targeting 100 million visitors annually by 2030, compared to 40 million visitors prior to COVID-19 pandemic. He also said that Saudi Arabia still seeks to bring the tourism contribution to 10% of GDP by 2030.

The Kingdom started allowing foreign pilgrims to visit for Umrah starting late 2020.

Meanwhile, starting May 17, 2021, citizens are allowed to travel abroad and the country fully reopened sea, air and land borders.
