The bank branches operating in Saudi Arabia reached 2,008 in the first quarter of 2021, compared to 2,014 branches by the end of 2020.
A total of five new branches opened in Q1 2021, while 11 others were closed down, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

Bank Albilad shut four branches in the first three months of 2021, followed by Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF), which closed two branches. National Commercial Bank (NCB) shut two branches but opened one new branch. Riyad Bank, Saudi British Bank (SABB), Samba Financial Group closed down one each.
Alinma Bank, Bank Aljazira opened one new branch each, while Emirates NBD added two new ones.

As many as 11 banks are listed in the Saudi market, with 14 foreign banks operating in the Kingdom.
Foreign banks include Emirates NBD with six branches, and Gulf International Bank, National Bank of Kuwait, and First Abu Dhabi Bank with three branches each. Also operating in the Kingdom with one branch each are BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, Bank Muscat, National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), JPMorgan Chase & Co., National Bank of Pakistan, Ziraat Bank Turkey, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Qatar National Bank, and Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
Saudi banks had 1,983 branches in Q1 2021, with Al Rajhi Bank topping with 543 branches followed by NCB (430), Riyad Bank (273), ANB (136), and Bank Albilad (107).
