The first phase of Amaala megaproject will consist of six hotels and roughly 1,000 hotel keys, with construction likely to be completed by the first quarter of 2024, according to company CEO John Pagano.

The subsequent phases will be built out by the end of 2025 and the entire project by 2027-end, aggregating about 3,000 hotel rooms across around 25 hotels, he told Gulf Business magazine.

In September 2018, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) launched the mega project as a luxury tourist destination on the Red Sea coast. The fund will undertake the initial financing and development of the project.
