According to a recent report by KAMCO Invest, Saudi Arabia is expected to be the biggest regional market for new project contract awards in 2021, followed by the UAE and Kuwait.

The report said that the GCC project market showed a healthy recovery in Q1 2021, mainly led by pending project awards from last year, which were revived amid a strong regional vaccination effort. Saudi Arabia and the UAE accounted for the lion’s share of the total project market over the last two years.

Meanwhile, the summer months are always considered to be slow for the regional project market. However, the number of project contracts awarded in Saudi Arabia in May this year signaled a gradual recovery from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Saudi government had previously implemented economic stimulus packages and measures to counter the ill-effects of the pandemic, which, by far, has helped the Kingdom return to growth across sectors.
