The point-of-sale (POS) transactions soared by 142% to SAR 39.17 billion in April 2021, from SAR 16.18 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
During this month, Saudi Arabia implemented several precautionary measures to combat COVID-19 pandemic, which led to lower POS transactions in most sectors.
Data showed that a total of 371.3 million transactions were processed through 823,700 points-of-sale in the month.

On a yearly basis, cash withdrawals increased by 27% to SAR 51.35 billion in April 2021, from SAR 40.55 billion last year.
The withdrawals were processed through 17,100 ATMs and through 136.8 million transactions.
