UAE business conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim awarded a four-year contract to global infrastructure consulting firm, AECOM, to provide lead consultancy services for Mall of Saudi development within its master-planned mixed-use development, Riyadh North.

With the project set to break ground in Q4 2021, AECOM will deliver lead design consultancy for pre-contract and post contract construction supervision for the mall, the company said in a statement.

The project is expected to house over 600 stores across 300,000 square meters (sqm) gross leasable area (GLA), and will host the largest ski slope and snow park in the Middle East, luxury hotels and branded residences covering approximately 2,000 keys and spanning 214,000 sqm of built-up area. The mall will feature a Carrefour hypermarket and 31 VOX Cinema screens, including the world’s largest IMAX, and a Magic Planet.

To date, leasing progress for the retail space stands at approximately 50% of the GLA for both issued and signed proposals, excluding Ski Saudi.

Majid Al Futtaim said that Mall of Saudi reinforces its long-standing commitment to the Kingdom and its contribution to Vision 2030. This commitment is exemplified through the creation of approximately 70,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction, and approximately 16,000 direct jobs during the operations of the multi-phase development.

According to data compiled by Argaam, Majid Al Futtaim announced in February 2016 that it intended to invest SAR 14 billion in two international shopping centers in Riyadh.

Mall of Saudi will be located at the intersection of Al-Thumama Road and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road in Al-Narjis neighborhood in the north of Riyadh, with a total area of more than 866,000 sqm.
