Saudi minister says COVID-19 vaccine not mandatory, but necessary for coexistence

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce and acting Minister of Media Majid Al Qasabi said the coronavirus vaccine is not mandatory in the Kingdom.

 

In a press briefing, Al Qasabi added that 40% of the Kingdom's population has been vaccinated so far.

 

“If we want to coexist, go to markets and return to schools and work, we should take the vaccine,” the minister said.

 

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) confirmed that COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory to allow employees of the public, private and non-profit sectors to work from offices, Argaam reported.

 

In addition, the Ministry of Interior announced that vaccination is a prerequisite for participating in the events and entering the public and private facilities as of Aug. 1, 2021.
