Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Competition’s (GAC) board of directors approved in its meeting held on May 30, 2021, conducting investigations over potential claims that a number of industrial institutions are taking advantage of their dominant market position.

The board also decided to start investigations over claims that a number of automobile sale and manufacturing institutions applied economic concentration without informing the authority.

The board further decided to conduct investigations on potential claims that a number of institutions in fields of contracting, medical industries as well as retail were involved in collusive tendering practices and claims that two institutions are accused of predatory pricing.

During the meeting, the board discussed investigations’ results related to violations of the Competition Law and recommendations to shorten the waiting period of economic concentration requests.
