The point-of-sale (POS) transactions rose by 1% to SAR 8.36 billion in the week ending June 26, from SAR 8.29 billion in the previous week, reaching its highest level in nine weeks, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 94.1 million transactions were processed in the week ending June 26.

POS transactions in jewelry and clothes & footwear sectors rose the most during the week, with increases of 8% and 6%, respectively. They were followed by food & beverages sector, with a 3% increase.
Consumer spending focused on food & beverages sector during the same week, valued at nearly SAR 1.27 billion, followed by restaurants & cafes sector with SAR 1.16 billion and the miscellaneous goods & services sector with SAR 777.2 million.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with nearly SAR 2.6 billion, representing 31% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with over SAR 1.36 billion.
