Emaar EC appoints Cyril Piaia as new CEO

The board of directors of Emaar The Economic City (Emaar EC) approved, in a meeting on July 5, the appointment of Cyril Piaia as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective Sept. 1.

 

The company said in a bourse filing that Piaia holds a Bachelor’s in Science from Lyce’e Thiers, France, and a Master’s in Engineering from Ecole Centrale, Lille, France - both graduated with honors.

 

He is a well-known executive in the tourism and development sector in Oman and brings more than 20 years of experience in engineering, strategy, finance, and business management skills, most notably as a CEO.

 

Piaia currently leads management and operations at Stratford & Russell, a network of independent real estate, finance, hospitality professionals and senior industry leaders with multi-disciplinary expertise across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, providing end-to-end tailored solutions for hospitality and real estate investors, owners, financiers and operators with hands-on pragmatic approach.

 

Previously, he was the CEO of Musstir, a private Omani property developer that is part of the MB Holding Group. Musstir‘s projects included development of international hotel operators from mid-scale up to ultra-luxury.

 

Piaia also served as the CEO of Muriya Tourism Development Co., a joint venture between Orascom Development and OMRAN, where he successfully led the development of the four largest international trade center projects in Oman.

 

He was also a Senior Manager Strategy and Corporate Finance at Arthur Anderson, leading the European practice for hospitality, real estate, travel and tourism.
