The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization's (SASO) board of directors approved the executive regulations on the use of imported vehicles, the official gazette reported on July 9.

The regulations provide the basic requirements which must be met by the vehicles imported to the Kingdom, to ensure their compliance with the regulations and standards applicable in the Kingdom, and to preserve the health and safety of consumers.

The regulations will not apply to the vehicles intended for military and security purposes, as well as police vehicles and those used as taxis. They will also not apply to the vehicles bearing school transport logos, or the vehicles with right-hand drive.
