POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions declined by 13% to SAR 9.35 billion in the week ending July 10, 2021, from SAR 10.75 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 104.46 million transactions were processed during the week.

The POS of all sectors fell during the week ending July10, led by the education and food & beverages sectors, which dropped by 22% each, followed by the telecommunications sector, which moved down 18%.
Consumer spending focused on food & beverages sector during the same week, valued at nearly SAR 1.33 billion, followed by restaurants & cafes sector with SAR 1.27 billion and the miscellaneous goods & services sector with SAR 894.6 million.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with nearly SAR 2.9 billion, representing 31% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with over SAR 1.53 billion.
