Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) denied news about cancelling medicine pricing.

In a statement, the authority said medicine prices can be identified through a two-dimensional barcode that is read through Tameni app.

The aim of adding prices to the medical packages is to update and amend them flexibly through the barcode.

The authority indicated that, based on the new amendment to the law of pharmaceutical establishments and preparations, the pharmaceutical and medical supplies factories are obliged to add a two-dimensional barcode to the outer packaging of the product to be read through Tameni app.

As per the law, companies can sell pharmaceuticals at prices lower than those set in the barcode, and not at higher prices, as of Aug. 1, 2021.
