Saudi Arabia began, today, Aug. 4, implementing the decision to localize closed commercial complexes.

The decision aims to restrict work at closed commercial complexes and malls, as well as management offices of closed commercial complexes, to Saudis, with the exception of a limited number of activities and professions at these complexes.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) stated that the move will contribute to providing a flexible work system for job seekers and will help students enter the labor market early. In addition, job seekers will be able to further improve their income.

The targeted jobs include branch manager, department supervisor, assistant branch manager, sales specialist, department manager, customer service, accounting fund supervisor, and marketing specialist.

The following professions are excluded from the decision: barber, fun game maintenance technician, loading and unloading worker, and cleaner.

The ministry indicated that if an establishment does not comply with the decision, the penalties stipulated in Ministerial Resolution No. 178743 will be applied.

The violations include hiring non-Saudis for the professions restricted to Saudis, as well as failure to comply with the localization percentage.
