Prices of 94 Saudi goods, services rise in July

Prices of 70 goods and services out of 166 decreased in Saudi Arabia year-on-year (YoY) in July, while prices of 94 goods and services rose, official data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, fresh local milk (Al Safi) recorded the biggest rise by 19.81% YoY. It was followed by Lebanese grapes with a 16% increase YoY.

 

On the other hand, Indian cardamom and local medium potato saw the steepest decline YoY at 16.22% and 15.38%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of the majority of construction materials increased YoY in July, except for two materials.

 

Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products increased in July on a YoY basis.

 

For clothes, five items under the category saw an increase, while the remaining five saw a decrease in the same period.

 

Two out four personal services saw a YoY rise in July.

 

Prices of three out of four detergents increased last month, compared to the same period previous year.

 

Elsewhere, prices of two out of three healthcare services were up in the same period.

 

Similarly, prices of only one service under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew in July YoY, while the other retreated.

 

Price of both hotel-and-apartment services rose on an annual basis in July.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes fell by 1.17% per pack YoY.
