Saudi Arabia to launch 3 major technical programs, manufacture smart chips: Minister

Saudi Arabia started to manufacture smart chips for the first time in its history, according to Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

 

During his speech at the Launch event today, Aug. 25, in Riyadh, Alswaha said agreements will be signed with global technology companies.

 

"Today, we will launch programs related to digital economy and innovation," the minister added.

 

Three major programs will be launched in the technology and artificial intelligence (AI) sector, the first of which is the "Himma", the largest technical program, at a total value of SAR 2.5 billion. It aims to boost the technology market with more than 20 products and support the beginners and professional entrepreneurs.

 

The other two programs are "Qimma" and "Tuwaiq". The first project of Tuwaiq is Sadaya Academy, which will train young people and build capacities in the field of AI.
