Saudi Minister of Education, Hamad Al-Sheikh, said the Kingdom targets to accept 33% of the general secondary school students in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs by 2025 and 40% by 2030, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Minister added that this includes converting 50 community colleges into applied colleges, indicating that the number of the students admitted to such programs in the first semester of this year amounted to nearly 63,000 male and female trainees, with 3,417 vacant seats in the secondary industrial institutes.
During the meeting of the Technical and Vocational Training Corp. (TVTC), headed by Al-Sheikh, he stressed the importance of accelerating the corporation's steps to transform into the three-semester system in its training facilities as well as development of curricula and training plans.
He added that the training programs always need to be renewed to keep pace with the changes of the labor market.
