Jeddah Islamic Port
Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose by 13% year-on-year (YoY) in the second quarter of 2021 to SAR 140.9 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports grew by SAR 1.44 billion, or 1%, in Q2 2021, compared to Q1 2021.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in Q2 2021 was driven by a 27% (SAR 5.23 billion) increase in its imports of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and associated transport equipment and a 452% (SAR 4.15 billion) rise in natural or cultured pearls, precious, or semi-precious stones. Imports of mineral products also increased by 97% (SAR 3.6 billion).

The United Arab Emirates and the US followed in the second and third positions at 10% and 9%, respectively.
