King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) signed a shareholders' agreement with Hutchison Ports for the formation of a joint venture to manage and operate the dry port and bonded logistics zone in SPARK.
In a statement, SPARK said the facility was established to help investors access global markets, and boost demand for commodities and energy services inside and outside the Middle East. It also aims to fulfill demand for logistics services in the cities and neighboring industrial complexes.
SPARK is a sustainable global energy hub and an integrated industrial city that is being developed in three phases over an area of 50 square kilometers in the Eastern Province, to become a gateway for logistics services to the regional energy sector.
SPARK further stated that the partnership with Hutchison Ports will help open up global markets to its partners and investors, which will enable them to operate more efficiently and reduce transportation time and costs.
