Saad Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs
The market is witnessing a shortage in gas supplies amid a strong demand, Reuters reported, citing Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Al-Kaabi.
"There is a huge demand from all our customers, and unfortunately we cannot cater to everybody,” Al-Kaabi said on the sidelines of Gastech conference in Dubai.
The minister said that high gas prices reflect a lack of investment, adding that Qatar wants sustainable and reasonable prices.
Use of gas will certainly be a part of energy transition solutions, he noted, indicating that Doha is committed to invest in the local gas infrastructure.
“We have good ties with the UAE, but we don’t have plans to re-join OPEC,” he stated.
