Saudi merchandize imports rise 13% to SAR 45.6 bln in July

Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose by 13% year-on-year (YoY) in July to SAR 45.6 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

 

Imports fell by SAR 1.44 billion, or 3%, in July, compared to June.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in July was driven by a 113% hike in its imports of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment, and a 19% rise in products of the chemical or allied industries.

 

On the other hand, Saudi imports of vegetable products decreased by SAR 930.3 million, and machinery and mechanical appliances; electrical equipment; and parts thereof retreated by SAR 541.5 million, as the following table shows:

China topped the Kingdom's list of countries for imports, amounting to SAR 9.94 billion, accounting for 22% of the total value of imports in April.

 

The US and the United Arab Emirates followed in the second and third positions at 11% and 7%, respectively.
