King Fahd Causeway

Emad bin Ibrahim Almohaisen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the King Fahd Causeway Authority, revealed that traffic movement is gradually rebounding and reached 50% of the normal level, thanks to the successful handling of the COVID-19 pandemic by Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The number of vehicles crossing the bridge from May 17, 2021, until the third quarter of this month reached 1.9 million vehicles in both directions, while the number of trucks for the same period reached 111,360, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported, citing Almohaisen.

The bridge has seen an upward movement in the number of vehicles and passengers since its inauguration in 1986, thus ranking fifth in the world in terms of the movement of vehicles to land ports. The bridge recorded 29 million passengers in 2019.

Almohaisen indicated that the King Fahd Causeway embodies the strength of the relations between the two countries and reinforces their economic ties.
