Saudi banks recorded the largest monthly earnings of SAR 5.41 billion in August, Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) data showed.
Tadawul-listed 11 banks, along with a few of the foreign banks operating in the Kingdom, have recorded aggregate earnings of more than SAR 5 billion in four months so far, namely, March 2019, January 2020, January 2021, and August 2021.

On the other hand, the banks operating in the Kingdom incurred monthly losses in only seven months, since SAMA started to monitor the data.
The biggest losses were incurred in June 2020 at SAR 4.8 billion, after recognizing goodwill impairment losses from the merger of Saudi British Bank (SABB) and Alawwal Bank.
