The Idle Lands program announced the completion of the development of 11 land plots, subject to fees from their owners, spanning across more than 535,000 square meters (sqm) in Jeddah.
The development of the land plots, which provides for more than 970 residential partitions, comes as part of the program's strategy to eliminate monopolistic practices and contribute to creating a balanced real estate market, according to Saudi Press Agency.
No fees will be charged once the land development is complete, whether with the final approval for its masterplan or its development within one year from the fee imposition date, the program added.
According to the studies carried out by the program's team, in cooperation with competent authorities, the first phase of the white land fees was implemented in Madinah, Aseer, Taif, Jazan, Tabuk, and Al Ahsa.
Further implementation of the fees will apply to Hafr Al-Batin, Qassim, Hail, and others, with details scheduled to be announced over the coming period.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the white land fees came into effect on June 8, 2016, in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Makkah.
