Foreign investments in Saudi Arabia up 16% to SAR 2.256 trln in Q2 2021

Foreign investment in Saudi Arabia grew by 16% to SAR 2.256 trillion in Q2 2021 from SAR 1.951 trillion a year earlier, based on the latest official data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

 

When compared to the first quarter of 2021, foreign investments rose 6%, or SAR 126.3 billion.

 

According to data compiled by Argaam, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched, on Oct. 11, the National Investment Strategy (NIS) – a key enabler of the Vision 2030 objectives.

 

The strategy seeks to raise net foreign direct investment to SAR 388 billion annually and boost local investment to SAR 1.7 trillion per year by 2030.

Foreign direct investments (FDI) accounted for 43% of total foreign investments in the Kingdom, equivalent to SAR 965.3 billion.

 

Portfolio investments hit SAR 759.4 billion, while other investments stood at SAR 513.5 billion.
