Saudi holdings of US Treasuries drop to $124.1 bln in August

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries reached $124.1 billion in August, down $4 billion month-on-month, new data released by the US Treasury showed.

 

The value of Saudi holdings of US Treasuries in August is the lowest since May 2020, when it stood at $123.5 billion.

 

The Kingdom’s ranking fell to the 17th place among the largest holders of US debt in August.

 

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $101.6 billion, representing 82% of the total, and short-term bonds worth $22.47 billion, accounting for 18%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds in August with a value of $1.3198 trillion, followed by China and the United Kingdom with a value of $1.047 trillion and $569 billion, respectively, as the following table shows:
