Jeddah Islamic Port
Saudi Arabia’s merchandize imports rose by 24% year-on-year (YoY) in August to SAR 50.3 billion, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports increased by SAR 3.1 billion, or 7% in August, compared to July.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in August was driven by a SAR 3.77 billion, or 66% hike, in its imports of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, and associated transport equipment, and a 593% rise in natural or cultured pearls, precious or semi-precious stones and others or by SAR 1.42 billion.
Imports from base metals & articles of base metal and mineral products also rose by SAR 1.22 billion and SAR 1.19 billion, respectively.
On the other hand, Saudi imports of vegetable products decreased by SAR 317 million, and prepared foodstuffs, beverages and others retreated by SAR 250.7 million, as the following table shows:

China topped the Kingdom's list of countries for imports, amounting to SAR 10.86 billion, accounting for 22% of the total value of imports in August.
The US and the United Arab Emirates came in the second and third positions at 10% and 8%, respectively.
