The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) announced starting the implementation of the updated "Nitaqat" program for all private-sector facilities from Dec. 1, according to Saudi Press Agency.

In May, HRSD ministry launched the updated "Nitaqat" program, which was to be applied as of December 2021, in line with the labor market strategy that aims to enhance market efficiency and provide new attractive jobs for nationals.

The program comes in line with the other localization programs launched by the ministry, as it will help provide more than 340,000 jobs till 2024.

The first version of “Nitaqat” program was launched in 2011, which aimed to encourage the localization of jobs and set a minimum wage for Saudis in the private sector. It first raised the minimum wage to SAR 3,000, then to SAR 4,000 at the start of the second quarter of this year.
