Hilton eyes Saudi expansion, increase hotel numbers to 75: Al-Khateeb

Global hotel operator Hilton is planning to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia by increasing the number of hotels to 75 from the current 15, said Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb, following a meeting with the group's CEO, Chris Nassetta.

 

Hilton's expansion reflects the confidence in the strong progress achieved by the Kingdom in developing the tourism sector, he said in a tweet.

 

The minister added that the main objective of cooperating with international brands such as Hilton is to expand the scope and options available to tourists and boost the tourism sector's contribution to GDP to 10% by 2030. This will further help revive local and global tourism through partnering with the private sector.

 

Saudi Arabia seeks to achieve 100 million visitors annually by 2030 and convert a considerable portion of citizens' overseas spending on travel and shopping locally.
