Fahad Al-Jalajel, Minister of Health

Fahad Al-Jalajel, Minister of Health, said that the ministry continued to develop the health sector in 2021, as part of its efforts to achieve the goals of Vision 2030, in line with its efforts to confront the pandemic.

He added that protecting the health and safety of citizens and residents has been a priority for the ministry in 2021, as the Kingdom was considered a symbol of success in confronting the pandemic.

Saudi Arabia has successfully raised the capacity of health services in 2021 across regions, compared to what was achieved during the past 20 years, said Al-Jalajel.

He also indicated that the number of COVID-19 tests that were carried out in the Kingdom exceeded 120,000 tests per day, which made it among those with the highest testing levels among G20. It also ranked second on the COVID-19 recovery index.

2021 witnessed the opening of 10 hospitals with a total capacity of 1,500 beds, while 2022 will see the opening of 88 health facilities, as well as the opening of a virtual medical center as the first-of-its-kind in the world, in addition to activating the flying ambulance services, said the minister.
