Saudi retail mortgage loans rise 36% to SAR 533.5 bln in Q3 2021: SAMA

Mortgage loans provided to retail and corporate clients by commercial banks in Saudi Arabia rose 36% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 533.5 billion in Q3 2021 from SAR 392.1 billion in a year earlier period, according to data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

 

Loans to retail clients, accounting for 77% of total mortgage loans, jumped 48% to SAR 412.6 billion in the three-month period from SAR 279.2 billion in Q3 2020.

 

Corporate loans grew by 7% YoY to SAR 120.8 billion in Q3 2021.

On the other hand, consumer loans grew by 17% YoY during the three-month period to reach SAR 411.7 billion.

 

They include cars and equipment loans, as well as travel, education, and home improvement loans, among others.
