Saudi transport ministry says 7,000 km of roads currently being built

The Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services said that the total length of the roads being implemented is 6,988 kilometers (km), Saudi Press Agency reported.

 

It is further working to establish an integrated road network and raise the level of the current network, in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety.

 

The roads being implemented include single roads with a length of 2,527 km, as well as dual roads with a length of 577 km, along with highways with a length of 354 km and dual roads with a length of 2,180 km.

 

This is in addition to the transformation of a dual road into a highway with a length of 74 km, and the re-establishment of an existing road with a length of 1,276 km, construction of 274 bridges, and 168 intersections.

 

The ministry also indicated that it carried out a number of works on its roads during the past four months, including asphalt works with a length of 535 km, concrete barriers with a length of 86,918 meters, installation of fences with a length of 24,526 meters, and painting works with a length of 380,602 meters, in addition to the implementation of ground markings (cat eyes) with a total of 130,354 units, and the installation of 2,844 warning and guiding panels.
