Al-Jouf Cement Co.’sboard of directors, on Dec. 28, decided to close the remaining part of the second production line and its annexes, as well as the international road intersection bridge project on fixed assets from tomorrow, Dec. 31.
The company cited failure to achieve production capacity according to the terms of the contract as the reason for closure, according to a bourse filing.
The financial impact of the closure will reflect on Q1 2022 financials.
In January 2025, the cement producer said that the commercial production of the second production line would begin during Q1 2015.
The company had announced the commencement of trial operations for its second line in December 2013, which has been postponed thrice to date. The second line has a clinker production capacity of 5,000 tons per day.
