The National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) has 12 solar photovoltaic projects and another wind energy project, according to recent data from the General Authority for Statistics.

The total capacity of such projects reaches about 4,870 Megawatt (MW)/hour.

By 2024, the government plans to generate 15.11 million MW/hours of electricity annually from NREP projects, which will contribute to supplying electricity to 692,600 homes.

NREP projects aim to create 7,870 job opportunities by the end of 2024 and reducing the expected consumption of fossil fuels from energy production by 66.91 million barrels of oil equivalent per year.

This, accordingly, will contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 9.83 million tons/year by 2024.
