Transshipment containers at Saudi ports rise 11.9% to 442,800 in December: MAWANI

Transshipment containers at Saudi ports jumped 11.9% year-on-year (YoY) in December 2021 to about 442,800 standard containers, according to the monthly statistical bulletin of Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI).

 

The total number of containers handled edged up 3.3% to reach more than 841,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

 

Livestock cargo rose 101.6% to 350,000, while foodstuff cargo increased 3.8% to 1.8 million tons.

 

The number of vessels received at the ports climbed 6.2% to 11,163, while the number of passengers surged 58% to 76,000.

 

The general cargo volume fell 3.5% to about 25.4 million tons, while the total vehicles cargo declined 15.62% to 75,000.
