Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued nine mining licenses at a total investment value exceeding SAR 30 billion, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Khalid Almudaifer, Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources.

These licenses will provide up to 3,000 direct job opportunities in mines and 10,000 indirect jobs.

Since 2021 to date, the ministry has issued around 157 prospecting licenses out of 700 requests received via its e-platform. The request figure is three times the annual historical average recorded by the ministry.

Almudaifer indicated that the ministry completed a strategy aimed at regulating the iron industry and working to build a smelter facility for copper and zinc.
