Saudi banks raise investments in treasury bonds by SAR 42.4 bln in 2021

Saudi banks’ investments in treasury bonds grew by SAR 42.4 billion year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 480.75 billion in 2021, new data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.

 

Accordingly, banks’ investments in treasury bonds continue to rise YoY for the ninth consecutive year, as shown in the following table:

Investments in treasury bonds increased by SAR 6.6 billion month-on-month (MoM) to SAR 480.8 billion in December last year.

 

SAMA’s assets declined by SAR 44.33 billion in December to around SAR 1.849 trillion.
