Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al Rajhi

Minister of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), Ahmed Al Rajhi, said that the number of Saudis in the labor market reached more than 1.9 million, which is a historic and unprecedented level.

Speaking at the government communication conference held today, Feb. 16, Al Rajhi revealed that the ministry intends to issue 30 new localization decisions in 2022 for new professions such as project and quality management, procurement, sales and finance.

He stressed that the ministry will continue with the decisions until most of the activities and professions are localized. The percentage of private sector compliance with the localization decisions reached 95%.

The number of people who joined the labor market for the first time in 2021 reached about 400,000, which is more than the outputs of education, said Al Rajhi.

One of the objectives of the labor market strategy is to raise the rate of citizens' economic participation, which was 40% and currently stands at 50%, as the goal is to reach 60% by 2030.

There is a global index called the Labor Market Efficiency Index, which is key for attracting local and international investment. Saudi Arabia's 2030 strategy is aimed to reach the top 20 countries in the world within that index, Al Rajhi said.
