POS device
The point-of-sale (POS) transactions amounted to SAR 9.41 billion in the week ending Feb. 26, compared to SAR 8.82 billion in the previous week, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.
Data showed that a total of 120.6 million transactions were processed.
POS transactions represent what is spent by consumers using their ATM cards and credit cards in shopping malls, retail stores, pharmacies, etc.

Most sectors rose, led by the hotels sector that moved up 36%. It was followed by the furniture that advanced 21%.
Meanwhile, the education sector led decliners, with a drop of 43%, followed by jewelry (14%).
Consumer spending focused on the restaurants and cafes sector in the week, with nearly SAR 1.47 billion, or 16% of the total sales. It was followed by the restaurants and cafes sector, with SAR 1.43 billion.

Riyadh topped the POS transactions by cities in terms of value with nearly SAR 3 billion, representing 32% of the total sales. Jeddah came second with SAR 1.52 billion.
