Saudi Arabia recognizes corruption as the first enemy of development and prosperity, and it cannot be combated without close international cooperation, President of Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Mazen bin Ibrahim Al-Kahmous said in a statement.

The Riyadh Initiative to establish a global anti-corruption network comes at the right time, he added.

He pointed out that the corruption patterns are developing to benefit from weak cooperation and information exchange between anti-corruption agencies around the world.

During the first steering committee meeting, he indicated that the initiative received the international community’s support in 2021 during the political declaration of the special session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly against corruption held in New York.

In addition, the ninth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption held in Sharm El-Sheikh during 2021 welcomed Riyadh Initiative, Al-Kahmous said.
