Saudi Arabia drafts consumer protection law: Alkassabi

Saudi Minister of Commerce Majed Alkassabi announced today that the ministry is preparing the first draft law on consumer protection, which was drawn from international best practices. 

 

Speaking on the occasion of the International Consumer Rights Day, Alkassabi added that the draft law covers the right to compensation, protection from fraud and unfair contracts, and alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution. 

 

The minister also confirmed that the new draft law will be released within a month for public consultation.
