Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) said that work is underway to complete the integrated linkage with the Council of Health Insurance (CCHI) to detect and deal the lack of medical insurance for employees.

The ministry stressed the need to provide health insurance to all employees working in the private sector and their dependents, whether Saudis or non-Saudis, as it is an employment right, Al-Eqtisadiah Newspaper reported.

Failure to provide health insurance to all private-sector employees is a violation by the employer with a fine of up to SAR 20,000 for each employee that is not covered if the business falls under category A (51 employees or more), SAR 5,000 per worker for category B, (11-50 employees), and SAR 2,000 per employee for category C (10 or less).
