Russia will only accept payments in rubles for gas deliveries to "unfriendly countries,” and will reject payment in foreign currency, after Moscow was hit by unprecedented sanctions over Ukraine, Reuters reported today, March 23, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The changes will only affect the currency of payment,” Putin told a televised meeting with top government ministers.

“Russia will continue, of course, to supply natural gas in accordance with volumes and prices fixed in previously concluded contracts,” he added.
