Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) flew more than 5.1 million passengers in Q1 2022, a 75% year-over-year (YoY) hike, the national carrier said in its latest operational performance report.
Passengers flew on board more than 40,000 scheduled and additional flights in the domestic and international segments during the three-month period, a 44% increase versus Q1 2022, thanks to Saudia’s modern fleet of 144 aircraft.
In Q2 2022, flight time amounted to 101,600 hours, a 77% YoY rise.
The Saudi government’s efforts to support domestic tourism by holding local and international events contributed to the significant growth, the national carrier said, noting that these figures bring renewed optimism that the Kingdom’s air cargo sector could see gradual recovery from the COVID-19 repercussions.
