Saudi Arabia seeks a tenfold increase in international airline passengers transiting the Kingdom by 2030, as it looks to triple annual passenger traffic, Reuters reported, citing Mohammed Alkhuraisi, Director of Strategy at the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

The Kingdom targets to increase direct international flights from 99 to 250, partly to boost a nascent tourism sector and turn the country into a major commercial center.

In June 2021, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman released the National Transport and Logistics Strategy,  to launch a national carrier.

The strategy aims to help Saudi Arabia to rank fifth globally in air transit traffic and double the air freight sector’s capacity to over 4.5 million tons, Argaam earlier reported.
