Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports rose by 18% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 48.3 billion in February 2022, according to data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
Imports declined by SAR 4.11 billion, or 8%, in February compared with a year earlier.

The increase in the Kingdom’s imports in February was driven by a SAR 1.62 billion rise, or 37%, in its products of the chemical or allied industries. This is in addition to a 123% surge, or SAR 1.61 billion, in base metals and articles of base metals.

The US and UAE came in second and third, at 10% and 6%, respectively.
